Metal guitar queen Nita Strauss came to Dallas on June 20th in support of her new album, Controlled Chaos. Still in Alice Cooper’s band, she has started to branch out as a solo artist and is getting noticed industry-wide as a world class guitar player. This tour, unlike her trip to Dallas last December, is a headlining tour and she was every bit ready for her time in the spotlight. From the onset you could tell why her nickname is “Hurricane,” she played with an abundance of energy and a precision that very few other guitarists in the world can do.
She focused mostly on songs from her solo album, but there was also a homage to her time with The Iron Maidens when she played “Aces High,” and her time with Alice Cooper, playing “I’m Eighteen.” She also closed the night out with “The Show Must Go On” from Queen. Overall, Nita lived up to all the hype that she has been getting and showed everyone in attendance that she is a force to be reckoned with. If you ever get a chance to see Nita Strauss live it is worth seeing a musician at the top of her craft.
