LIVE REVIEW: New Years Day – 6/22/19 @ Trees, Dallas, TX

New Years Day played Trees in Dallas on June 22nd in support of their latest album, Unbreakable, and this up and coming band had the venue rocking from the first to the final song. New Years Day is another example of female led hard rock and metal bands that are breaking through to garner mainstream success. The lead vocalist, Ash Costello, is a great example of a non-compromising front woman who is listening to the environment around her and writing songs that are positive and inspiring, but also straight forward hard rock.

This was the bands second appearance in DFW in the past year, previously opening for In This Moment and Halestorm last December. This time it was their turn to headline and they showed that they are deserving of top billing. What impressed me most about the show was the interaction between the band and the audience, at one point in the show Ash and the bands guitarist, Austin Ingerman, came down from the stage and mingled with the crowd.

One of the highlights of the show was the bands performance of Pantera’s “Fucking Hostile,” which the band followed up with their current single “Shut up.” Overall, I was very impressed with the bands performance and the support that they received on their first headlining tour.
