Marking the 20th anniversary of Black Label Society’s debut album, Sonic Brew, the band is out on tour to celebrate with their rabid fanbase. The scene inside of Canton Hall was reminiscent of a meeting of the local motorcycle club. The majority of people were wearing leather vests with the Black Label Society logo and patches that represent the band through all ten of their studio albums.
This was a show dedicated to the album that started it all and launched Zakk Wylde beyond being just the guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne and into the stratosphere of metal and guitarists everywhere. The first of a two-night stand at Canton Hall, the band played the album song by song and it sounded much heavier than the studio version and showed how far the band has grown since its release.
As always, Black Label Society brought their very best and took no prisoners. Zakk and company were no nonsense and as energetic as I have ever seen them, This was my second time seeing Zakk live and it has been a rarity to see him stand still or to see his face through his constantly whipping hair.
Sonic Brew –20th Anniversary Blend 5.99 –5.19 will be released on May 17th and will feature two bonus tracks, a piano version of “Spoke in the Wheel” and an acoustic take on “Black Pearl.” The band will be on tour in support of the release until May 23rd and it is a can’t miss opportunity to see an amazing show.
